Sri Lanka, Oct. 28 -- The annual Katina Chivara Pooja Mahotsava (Annual Katina Robe Offering Ceremony) of the Maryland International Buddhist Vihara in North America, was held on Sunday (26) at the temple premises.
The Katina ceremony was presided over by the Chief Adhikarana Sanghanayake (Chief Judicial Prelate) of the United States, the Most Venerable Katugasthota Uparathana Nayaka Thera. The event saw the participation of Buddhist monks residing in the U.S., as well as monks who travelled from Sri Lanka.
The traditional offering of the Katina Robe to the Maha Sangha was performed, followed by the dyeing ceremony, conducted with the blessings of the monastic community.
