Sri Lanka, April 27 -- Norway has responded positively to a request from Sri Lanka to support its fisheries monitoring with Automatic Identification System (AIS) satellite technology and specialised training to modernise Sri Lanka's fisheries sector and facilitate the exchange of technical know-how.Economic Recovery Guide

Several rounds of high-level talks between the Sri Lankan delegation led by Fisheries, Aquatic, and Ocean Resources Minister Ramalingam Chandrasekar and Norway's Trade, Industry, and Fisheries Ministry were held in Oslo recently to explore how Sri Lanka can access this satellite technology free of charge to monitor fishing vessels and suppress illegal fishing activities.
