Sri Lanka, March 5 -- The Government's decision to boost the numbers in the country's Police Force is a timely move indeed. In fact, this should have been done much earlier. Had this been so, much of the incidents of crime sweeping the country could have been averted or at least controlled, including murders.
According to Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala, the Government has taken a decision to assign 10,000 officers of the Civil Security Department (CSD) to the Police Service to strengthen its manpower. He also said that 604 Police officers have been suspended from duty for disciplinary reasons and 79 have been dismissed from service from 2024 to September 09, 2025.
