Sri Lanka, Aug. 6 -- Justice Minister Harshana Nanayakkara stated that a new Prisons Commissioner General could only be permanently appointed if the former office-holder resigned or was permanently dismissed. Speaking at a media briefing in Kandy, the Minister emphasized that those levelling baseless allegations should understand that a vacancy would not be created until disciplinary action was concluded under the Establishments Code. He added that an acting appointee's powers were not diminished in any way.
