Sri Lanka, Sept. 26 -- The 22nd Amendment to the Constitution Bill was passed in Parliament with amendments yesterday (25) by a special two-thirds majority, with 158 votes cast in favour and 63 votes against. Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne announced that the Bill was passed with 95 majority votes.



MPs Ravi Karunanayake and Faizer Mustapha from the National Democratic Front (NDF) and MP Nayana Wasalathilaka from the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) were not present at the time of the vote.

In addition, the Judicature (Amendment) Bill was passed in the House without amendments by 95 majority votes, with 158 votes cast in favour and 63 votes against. Accordingly, the Speaker announced that the bill was passed with 95 majority votes.
