Sri Lanka, Oct. 13 -- Nuwan Indika Gamage and Pradeep Somasiri won bronze medals for Sri Lanka at the World Para Athletics Championships held in New Delhi.

Gamage secured bronze in the men's T44 long jump with a distance of 6.46 m, while Somasiri earned bronze in the men's 1500m (T46), setting a new Asian record of 3:53.77.

The five-member Sri Lankan team was sponsored by Dialog Axiata PLC, a long-time supporter of para sports in the country. Dialog has supported Sri Lanka's para athletes for more than two decades, enabling them to compete at both national and international levels.

Sri Lanka placed 62nd in the overall medal standings of the championships, which brought together top para athletes from around the world.
