Sri Lanka, May 11 -- The Department of Irrigation says that 12 major reservoirs and 6 medium-scale reservoirs under its management are currently discharging water due to the ongoing heavy rainfall across the country.

Among the major reservoirs discharging water are Rajanganaya in Anuradhapura, Sorabora Wewa in Badulla, Wemedilla, Devahuwa and Nalanda in Matale, Lunugamvehera, Thissa Wewa, Weerawila, Yoda Wewa and Weheragala in Hambantota, Deduru Oya in Kurunegala, and Alikota Ara in Monaragala.

Meanwhile, medium-scale reservoirs currently releasing water include Thuruwila in Anuradhapura District, Bomburuella in Badulla District, Debara Wewa in Hambantota, Saddhatissa and Malinpotta in Monaragala, and Mailankulam in Vavuniya District. ...
