Sri Lanka, Aug. 14 -- Housing, Construction, and Water Supply Minister Dr. Susil Ranasinghe said that water tariffs will not increase this year.

The Minister added that a review of water tariffs is scheduled for January next year, and that a decision on whether to increase, decrease, or maintain the current rates would be made then.

Minister Ranasinghe made these remarks while addressing the media following a discussion at the Kandy District Secretariat to investigate and provide solutions for drinking water issues in the district.

He emphasised that the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has received approximately Rs 2 billion to fund several projects aimed at resolving drinking water problems in the district this year. ...
