Sri Lanka, Nov. 11 -- Transport and Highways Deputy Minister Dr. Prasanna Gunasena stated in Parliament yesterday the Government revenue of Rs. 5,355 billion, which is 15.4 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), is the highest percentage achieved in 20 years.
Fiscal discipline must be maintained properly. The primary balance should be 2.3 percent. We are now maintaining figures more than that, he said.
"Rs. 14,000 million has been allocated for the development of rural roads. Out of 288 roads, 54 have been built so far.
"To root out corruption, digitalisation must be expedited and the Digital Economy Ministry is working towards this end. By May next year, it will be possible to completely digitalise issuance of driving licences. ...
