Sri Lanka, Sept. 15 -- The Ministry of Women and Child Affairs has allocated Rs. 2,000 million under the 2026 Budget to implement the 'Diviyata Saviyak' housing assistance programme, aimed at providing stable homes for young people leaving institutional care and families with children at risk, Minister Saroja Savithri Paulraj said at a Press briefing.
The programme will provide a grant of Rs. 2 million to each eligible beneficiary, to be used to build a new house, complete a partially built house, renovate an existing house, purchase land, or purchase a house. The Ministry aims to build 1,000 houses through this initiative.
