Sri Lanka, Aug. 25 -- The Prime Minister's Office has rejected a news report which claimed that Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya had visited former President Ranil Wickremesinghe in hospital.

In a statement issued on Monday (25), officials said the report was "completely false" and stressed that the Prime Minister had not made such a visit.

The statement referred specifically to a news item titled "Prime Minister Harini came to see Ranil with Maithri at midnight", published on a media outlet's official website, Facebook page, and other affiliated platforms.

The Prime Minister's Secretary, Pradeep Saputhanthri, has also written to the Chairman of the media organization, requesting that the erroneous report be corrected immediately....
