Sakaja faces civil jail threat
Nairobi, April 16 -- Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja is facing possible civil jail after two petitioners moved to court accusing him of defying a High Court order to appoint a County Secretary.
The petitioners, Kasichana Riziki Mumba and John Saidi Nyanje, told the High Court in Nairobi that the governor has failed to comply with a directive issued on December 5, 2025 requiring him to initiate a competitive recruitment process and appoint a County Secretary within 60 days.
Through lawyer Dr Owiso Owiso, the petitioners argued that the continued failure by the governor to act amounts to contempt of court and undermines the rule of law.
