Nairobi, April 28 -- A sweeping multi-agency crackdown in Kitale town, Trans Nzoia County, has begun restoring order after months of rising insecurity, although it has also disrupted livelihoods and stirred political controversy.

Launched on April 15 2026, and sanctioned by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, the operation targets criminal gangs and alleged political goons blamed for the violence in Kitale and its informal settlements.
