Uganda, May 5 -- President Museveni has honored a quartet of senior oil and gas technocrats with the National Independence Diamond Jubilee Medal, signaling the strategic importance of the energy sector as Uganda nears its "First Oil" milestone.

The awards, presented during the national Labour Day celebrations in Buikwe District, were headlined by Mr Ali Ssekatawa, the Director of Legal and Corporate Affairs at the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU). Ssekatawa was recognized alongside John Bosco Habumugisha (EACOP), Gilbert Kamuntu (UNOC), and Geoffrey Ogwang (Ministry of Energy) for their "outstanding service and loyalty" to the nation.
