Uganda, May 8 -- Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) has begun rehabilitating tanktainers as it prepares to resume fuel transportation in the country, marking a renewed urge to strengthen multimodal freight operations.
According to URC spokesperson Mr John Linnon Ssengendo, the first batch of rehabilitated units was on May 7, 2026 moved from the corporation's workshop in Nalukolongo after undergoing refurbishment.
"Twenty two (22) have been rehabilitated, and that 22 is what we call a ship load, and this rehabilitation is being done at the Railway Workshop in Nalukolongo," Mr Ssengendo said.
"The Uganda Railways Corporation has over time built capacity to undertake these works," he added.
