Uganda, May 3 -- Government May 2 launched its maiden 'Packaging Centre of Excellence', a move officials envisage will enhance, standardise, and modernise the country's packaging industry.

Science, Technology and Innovations (STI) Minister Dr Monica Musenero, who officiated at the launch during the ongoing National Science Week, said the packaging centre will make local products competitive in global markets.

".if you look at our packages, which we have discovered is one major barrier to market interest and also market prosperity. Because you could enter the market, but will people buy your things? Will you supply enough to break even? And we realise that there is a lot to do. And this centre is going to be very, very busy," she said. ...
