Uganda, April 13 -- As is the tradition since its launch in 2014, thousands of Ugandans yesterday hit the various streets running in commemoration of the 13th edition of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi's 71st birthday run.

Sunday's turnout reflected sustained progress. For the first time in recent memory, the run was held without rain, although participants waited about 40 minutes longer than usual for the Kabaka's arrival.

The streets were painted red as thousands matched to Mengo Lubiri for the flag-off. Mengo Lubiri grounds were filled as early as 6am, with runners patiently waiting until 7:40 am when His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II arrived to loud cheers.
