Uganda, May 5 -- Uganda's development agenda has, for decades, rightly focused on industrialisation, wealth creation, and economic transformation. These priorities are essential for national progress. However, there is a dangerous misconception gaining ground-that social sciences, particularly social work, are secondary or even non-productive to this vision.

This view is not only misguided but risks undermining the very foundation of sustainable development. Economic growth does not occur in a vacuum. It depends on stable families, healthy communities, and a productive workforce. Social work operates precisely at this intersection.
