Police thwart suspected robbery targeting mobile money agent in Kampala
Uganda, May 16 -- Police in Uganda's capital Kampala said on Friday they had foiled a planned robbery targeting a mobile money agent and arrested five suspects allegedly linked to a series of aggravated robberies across the metropolitan area.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Rachel Kawala, the operation followed intelligence received on May 15 indicating that a group of suspects was planning to attack a victim transporting cash from Kalerwe in Kawempe Division to Wandegeya.
"The suspects had reportedly planned to attack the victim during the transaction," Kawala said.
