Uganda, May 12 -- The National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) has said the country will start implementing a new competence-based curriculum across higher education institutions in the academic year 2027-2028.
The executive director of the NCHE, Prof Mary Okwakol, made the announcement while addressing the first National Nurses and Midwives Scientific Conference at Makerere University on Monday.
"That one is expected to be enforced during the academic year 2027-2028. It's an approach which is supposed to equip the students with the competences, of course with knowledge, competences, skills and attitudes that can enable them to perform their duties more effectively than they are doing now," she said.
