Uganda, April 10 -- Ex-State Minister for Karamoja Affairs, Agnes Nandutu, has been sentenced to 4 years in prison and barred from holding any public office for ten years.

The iron sheets, in which she is implicated in stealing, are also to be returned to OPM, restoring them to their intended public purpose.

Earlier on Friday, Nandutu apologised to the government and the country for her role in the Karamoja iron sheets scandal, moments after the State asked the court to impose a custodial sentence of five years in prison.

She appeared before Anti-Corruption Court judge Jane Kajuga, who delivered her sentence this afternoon.
