Uganda, April 21 -- Authorities in Osukuru Town Council in Tororo District have extended by one week a deadline for street vendors to vacate ungazetted trading areas, triggering mixed reactions among traders affected by the planned eviction.
The extension, announced April 21 by town clerk Samali Sabano Epiate, followed complaints from vendors who said the initial one-week ultimatum was too short and risked causing heavy losses.
The eviction notice had been due to expire on Thursday, with enforcement expected to begin at midnight, but authorities opted to allow more time for vendors to relocate to designated trading spaces.
