Uganda, April 7 -- Makerere University leadership has blocked a street jam organized by two leading rival contenders, Gracious Kadondi and Hannah Karema, scheduled to take place at the same time and venue.
The decision comes amid heightened tensions as the university prepares for the Students' Guild election.
In a statement, University Dean of Students Dr Winifred Kabumbuli reminded candidates that all campaigns must be held virtually, citing the Makerere University Students Guild Statute, 2022, Section 10(b).
"In this regard, all campaign activities are expected to be conducted online. Physical rallies, processions, concerts, or any form of gathering intended to mobilize support in or outside the University are not permitted," sh...
