Uganda, April 29 -- Local governments across the country continue to bear the harsh effects of climate change, ranging from flooding, erratic rainfalls, drought and thunderstorms.

In recent weeks, several households in the Acholi, Lango and West Nile sub-regions have suffered losses, including the death of relatives, destruction of properties and farmlands due to climate-related conditions.

For instance, in Gulu district, a woman identified as Lucy Labong drowned on Wednesday while attempting to cross Agagi stream, a tributary of River Unyama in Pugwinyi Parish, Unyama Sub-County.

Several households in the Lango sub-region were also left homeless and on the verge of starvation after their houses were razed to the ground by heavy rains ...
