Lira hospital's lab: Beacon of hope for northern Uganda's healthcare
Uganda, April 11 -- On Friday morning, a Ugandan Member of Parliament telephoned Lira Regional Referral Hospital's Laboratory Department, requesting a Covid-19 test ahead of his scheduled meeting with President Yoweri Museveni.
Indeed, the legislator says his trust in this public healthcare facility, located in Lira City, speaks volumes about the facility's growing reputation.
"'Bazungu (the Whites) come here, they do tests and they move out [of the country] and get treatment. Meaning, any diagnosis, any test result that is produced from this hospital is recognised internationally," Dr. Benard Ongora, Lira Hospital's head of laboratory department, says.
