Uganda, April 15 -- The Lango Cultural Institution has officially stepped back from organising President Yoweri Museveni's victory celebrations in Lira City, set for April 18.
The institution's spokesperson, Mr Patrick Okwir, revealed they got information from the Resident City Commissioner's office that the President's visit is actually for thanksgiving and victory celebrations, not a public lecture as initially planned.
"If the President is coming for a victory celebration, as a cultural institution of the Won Nyaci me Lango, we are legally barred from taking the lead in organising such events. We are required to exhibit utmost neutrality and not appear partisan," he said in a statement.
