Uganda, May 10 -- Authorities in Kira Municipality in Wakiso District have banked on the three-bin system, hoping it will save the area's garbage menace and improve household waste sorting and collection.
Introduced last week with already 300 sets of bins dispatched to different households, the four-month pilot project will see organic recyclable and sanitary waste collected and disposed of separately.
This is seen as a remedy to the area's critical waste management crisis, with some residents dodging payment of garbage collection fees to private firms and ending up dumping waste in ungazetted areas.
