Uganda, April 21 -- Several transporters and motorists reported being turned away yesterday from fuel stations across Kampala, resulting to a dual crisis of stockouts and soaring pump prices.Global fuel supply remains tight because the Strait of Hormuz is still 90 percent shut due to the U.S.-Israel war with Iran, cutting off 20 percent of world oil trade.As of yesterday, many stations in the city were waving away customers, leaving motorists stranded.It remains unclear whether dealers are facing genuine supply disruptions due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East where most of Uganda's fuel is sourced or if they are deliberately hoarding to manufacture a shortage and profit from the surge.
