Uganda, May 1 -- Members of Parliament in Uganda occupy a position of trust as representatives of the people.

The Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, 1995 creates the Parliament as the supreme legislative body tasked with law making, oversight and representation.

This law defines the functions of Parliament and it is primarily empowered to make laws for the peace, order and good governance of Uganda. The Constitution further mandates Parliament to protect it and promote democratic governance.
