Uganda, April 27 -- The government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting more local contractors to take on bigger road construction projects, as part of a broader strategy to build domestic capacity and create jobs in Uganda's infrastructure sector.
Mr Kabuye Kyofatogabye, the Minister of State for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs, said government is deliberately reserving a significant share of public works for Ugandan firms.
"Because you will agree with me that in most cases, people have been complaining that when the government secures such a facility, a loan facility, it is almost taken by foreigners. this time we said no - 30% of the works must go to local content so that we build capacity," he said on Frida...
