Uganda, April 16 -- The government, through the Ministry of Works and Transport, has started expanding the Busia border road to ease congestion and delays.

The expansion will involve turning the narrow road, part of the Northern Corridor route, into a dual carriageway.

The expansion is part of the Busia-Tororo road project and is being undertaken by China Railway 18 Bureau, a Chinese firm.

Engineer James Tumukunde, who is overseeing the works, told the Monitor that the construction aims to turn the road into a dual carriageway to ease delays caused by congestion.
