Uganda, May 15 -- The Financial Intelligence Authority (FIA) has moved to clarify the recent halting of bank accounts belonging to several Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), describing the move as a routine measure to safeguard Uganda's financial integrity rather than an outright declaration of wrongdoing.

Speaking on Thursday at a joint sensitisation workshop held at the Civil Service College in Jinja, FIA Principal Communications Officer Mr Jossy Muhangi emphasised that these temporary restrictions are part of Standard Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and countering terrorism financing (CTF) protocols.
