Uganda, April 10 -- Health workers at Soroti Regional Referral Hospital have raised alarm over a surge in malaria and pneumonia cases, warning that delayed treatment is driving severe complications and avoidable deaths, particularly among children.
Hospital records show 144 children were admitted with malaria last month alone, with some arriving in critical condition.
Medical officer Dr Emmanuel Mugerwa said late hospital visits and poor adherence to treatment guidelines are worsening outcomes.
"Patients often arrive late, with complications," he said, urging parents to seek early treatment.
