Uganda, April 25 -- Busoga sub-region has recorded 181 malaria-related deaths within a period of just nine months, raising renewed concerns among health officials over the persistent burden of the disease despite ongoing national and regional interventions.
The figures were revealed during the World Malaria Day commemorations held in Iganga District on Friday, which brought together senior government officials, health experts, development partners, and community leaders.
Health experts described the situation as alarming, noting that malaria remains the leading cause of illness and death in Busoga, one of Uganda's most affected regions.
