Uganda, April 19 -- Retired civil servants in Bugiri District have called for an increase in pension and gratuity payments, citing the rising cost of living and delays in benefit adjustments.
The pensioners, under the Bugiri District Retired Professionals Forum, presented their concerns during a meeting with officials from the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development at the district headquarters.
They are seeking inclusion in the 2026/2027 national budget, arguing that current payments no longer reflect prevailing inflation levels.
Forum president Paul Waigulo said repeated appeals to government have not yielded results.
