Uganda, May 8 -- Five Anglican bishops from the Ankole sub-region have launched celebrations to mark 90 years of the East Africa Revival movement, which began in western Uganda before spreading across the region.

The launch was held at the Ankole Diocese headquarters in Ruharo, Mbarara City, on Friday, with church leaders describing the anniversary as both a spiritual and socio-economic milestone.

The four-day celebrations, scheduled for August 26 to 30, 2026, are expected to attract more than 7,000 participants from across East Africa at an estimated cost of Shs1 billion.
