All agricultural products for exports must meet international certification, says govt
Uganda, April 12 -- The government has said every agricultural-related product targeted for export to the international market must be critically certified and should meet all the standards required. The Commissioner for Crop Inspection and Certification at the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), Dr Paul Mwambu, said every product which leaves Uganda must meet the required standards at the international level.
He warned that if this is not done, the Ugandan products will continue to struggle to access the international market, due to the lack of standards.
"In today's world we are living in, certification is no longer optional. Certification is the passport to trade," he said.
