Srilanka, June 28 -- The Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Traffic Branch at the Yatiyantota Police Station, who was arrested in connection with the disappearance of his service firearm, has been remanded in custody. The suspect was arrested yesterday (June 27) by officers from the Seethawakapura Division Crimes Investigation Bureau following an investigation into the missing weapon.

According to police sources, the OIC had officially drawn a pistol and 10 rounds of live ammunition for operational duties on June 26. However, records indicate that he failed to return the firearm and ammunition upon the conclusion of his duties, triggering an immediate inquiry.
