Sri Lanka, Sept. 15 -- A 21-year-old woman was arrested yesterda for allegedly defacing the historic Mirror Wall at the Sigiriya Rock Fortress by writing her name on it.

Archaeological officers at the UNESCO World Heritage Site arrested the suspect and handed her over to the Sigiriya Police.

The woman, a resident of Avissawella, had been visiting the site with a group of friends at the time of the incident.

Police said that she is scheduled to be produced before the Dambulla Magistrate's Court today.

In 2015, a 23-year-old woman who was charged with causing damage to the Mirror Wall was sentenced to two years' imprisonment by the Dambulla Magistrate's court.
