Wheat flour hike pushes up short eats prices
Sri Lanka, Aug. 30 -- Prices of several flour-based short eats and other eatery items have been increased following a sharp rise in the price of wheat flour, the All-Island Canteen Owners' Association said.
Association Chairman Harshana Rukshan said the prices of several short eats have been increased by Rs. 5.
The increase applies to items including parata, egg roti, vegetable roti, rolls and patties.
Meanwhile, the price of a string hopper has increased by Re. 1, while the price of a hopper has gone up by Rs. 2.
The All-Island Bakery Owners' Association is also considering whether the increase in flour prices will require adjustments to the prices of bread and other bakery products.
