SriLanka, Oct. 1 -- The use of walkie-talkies in tourist jeeps, tourist bungalows and tourist camps within the Kumana National Park will be completely prohibited from today (Oct. 1), park authorities said.

The decision has been taken considering the harm allegedly caused to wildlife and the environment by the use of walkie-talkies within the national park.

The Park Warden of Kumana National Park said the new regulation would come into effect across the park from October 1, 2026.

Accordingly, tourists, safari operators and other relevant parties have been informed to refrain from using walkie-talkies within the national park from today.
