SriLanka, Nov. 1 -- Responsible journalism plays a vital role in combating misinformation, strengthening public trust and promoting peace and understanding among communities, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath said.

Addressing the welcome session of the 63rd General Assembly of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) at Cinnamon Life, City of Dreams, Colombo, today (November 1), the Minister said the rapid advancement of technology had made information more accessible while making it increasingly difficult to distinguish between truth and falsehood.

He stressed that broadcasting institutions had a responsibility to deliver accurate information and promote greater understanding among the public.
