Sri Lanka, Oct. 20 -- A video showing a doctor and an engineer being questioned at Panadura Police Station has sparked public outrage and drawn sharp criticism from legal experts.

Senior lawyer Thishya Weragoda slammed the police, calling the footage a "ghost-like interrogation" and a serious breach of privacy.

He said the video, apparently recorded without the couple's consent, violated citizens' rights and could deter people from approaching law enforcement.

Weragoda highlighted that police officials, including Senior DIG Ajith Rohana, had pledged in a recent webinar to uphold the Personal Data Protection Act during investigations. "This action is the exact opposite of that commitment," he said.
