Sri Lanka, Oct. 6 -- Former Parliamentarian Vasudeva Nanayakkara has said that Mahinda Kahandagama, who has been linked to the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), has no current connection with his political party.

Responding to claims regarding Kahandagama's political affiliation, Nanayakkara said Kahandagama had been associated with his party around 25 years ago, when he contested a local government election, but had left the party a long time ago.

"He is not in our party. He was with us about 25 years ago, when he contested the Urban Council election. Now, he is with the 'Pohottuwa' (SLPP)," Nanayakkara said.
