Sri Lanka, Oct. 22 -- The Society of Government Pharmacists has raised serious concerns over unqualified individuals dispensing medicines, including antibiotics, at private pharmacies across the country.
Speaking at a media briefing, Society Chairman Ajith Thilakaratne said that some private pharmacies are issuing medicines without prescriptions, in violation of health regulations.
He also urged the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) to rigorously verify the qualifications of pharmacy staff to ensure public safety and compliance with the law.
