Sri Lanka, Sept. 14 -- Two Sri Lankan university students who made history by becoming the first from the country to participate in an international university weightlifting competition returned to the country early today after securing a total of six medals at the World University Weightlifting Championship held in Doha, Qatar.

The duo, who won three gold medals and three bronze medals at the championship, arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport at 2.05 a.m. today (Sept. 14) on Qatar Airways flight QR 662 from Doha.

The championship was held in Qatar with the participation of university weightlifters from 50 countries.
