Two rivers on flood alert
Sri Lanka, Sept. 15 -- The Irrigation Department has issued alerts for the Maguru Ganga and Attanagalu Oya as several parts of the country recorded heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours.
According to the Department's river and rainfall monitoring report issued today (15), most major river basins remained at normal levels, while water levels in the Maguru Ganga and Attanagalu Oya areas were recorded at alert status.
The highest 24-hour rainfall of 131.7 mm was recorded at Glencourse, according to measurements taken at various Irrigation Department and Ceylon Electricity Board stations.
