Sri Lanka, Aug. 3 -- Two Indian nationals were arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake while attempting to smuggle a large stock of Kush cannabis valued at approximately Rs. 100 million, police said.

The arrests were carried out by officers of the Narcotics Bureau stationed at the airport. The suspects-a 37-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman-had reportedly acquired the narcotics in Bangkok, Thailand, and traveled to Chennai, India, before arriving in Sri Lanka on an IndiGo Airlines flight.

Upon inspection, officers discovered 8.22 kilograms of Kush cannabis concealed within their luggage. The seized narcotics have been sent for further analysis.
