SriLanka, Sept. 11 -- Two children aged 11 and 17 were killed following a hand grenade attack on a house along Sirisangabo Road, Kawdana, Dehiwala, early this morning, police said.

The younger boy, aged 11, died shortly after being admitted to the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital, while his 17-year-old brother succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment, a hospital spokesperson said.

Their 55-year-old father and two other children were also seriously injured in the explosion and admitted to the hospital.

The father remains under treatment, police said.

The circumstances surrounding the grenade attack are yet to be established, while police have launched further investigations into the incident.
