Sri lanka, Oct. 2 -- Colombo, October 2 (Daily Mirror) - Two passengers were arrested at the Katunayake Airport last night for attempting to smuggle in a stock of foreign cigarettes worth Rs. 14.2 million.
The suspects, a 26-year-old Sri Lankan businessman from Ratnapura and a 23-year-old Indian businessman were taken into custody by officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau while trying to take the cigarettes out of the airport.
Meanwhile, both had arrived from Dubai on Emirates flight EK-648 at around 7.20 p.m. yesterday.
Police said the suspects had hidden 347 cartons containing 69,400 sticks of cigarettes of two brands inside six pieces of luggage.
